Join our memorable horse jousting tournament in Château du Rivau, on August 10th and 11th.
In 1446, the fair King René organized a jousting tournament in honor of Jeanne de Laval. The greatest lords of the kingdom took part in this horse joust. The Lord of the Rivau was up against the Lord of Langeais during this celebrated medieval joust.
On August 10th and 11th an exceptional event will take place in front of the Loire valley castle of Rivau to celebrate the tournament that took place in the 15th century!
Come and cheer on your favourite contestant during the 4 medieval jousts that will take place on Saturday 10 at 2pm, 4pm and 5,30pm and on Sunday 11th at 11.30am, 3pm and 4.30 pm The prize-giving ceremony will begin at 6pm on Sunday. Bow and Arrow show performed by Les Archers du Richelais, a calligraphy workshop, medieval games for the kids hosted by Pastourel, a tasting of special gourmet foods, a book signing of “Following Joan of Arc throughout Touraine” by its
author Bernard Briais.
