TOM THUMB’S GARDEN
TOM THUMB’S GARDEN
Do you love the scent of spring ?
In spring, Le Jardin du Petit Poucet (Tom Thumb’s garden) is the kingdom of daffodils. Let yourself be enchanted by their refined sensual perfume with delicate white and fresh notes. In the language of flowers, daffodils symbolize renewal and hope. Then in May, tall yellow irises such as the Granada Gold iris, set the tone for this garden’s colour theme. In June, amber-colored English roses and historic varieties in straw-yellow shades delight enthusiasts.
Do you appreciate the textures of ornamental grasses ?
In July, Knifophias are accompanied by mass plantings of tall grasses, which pay homage to the gentle undulations of the Chinon landscape. Enjoy the sensual textures of their varied plumes, including Molinia arundinacea ‘transparent’, silky Miscanthus purpurascens, and Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’, followed by the brush-like flowers of Penisetum ‘Mouldry’.
Do you revel in the golds of autumn ?
Beautiful trees to look out for as they burst into flame here include : Aesculus neglecta, Acer carpinifolium, Xantoxillum simulans, Sorbus Aria and Koelreuteria. The shrubs Colutea arborescens, Stranvaesia davidiana, and Clerodendron trichotomum also display their golden finery at the end of the season.
