Château du Rivau welcomes school trips and school visits
Organising school trips to the Loire Valley ? Château du Rivau and its fairytale gardens welcome school visits from groups of all ages. The themes we explore with groups of pupils are linked to the school curriculum and can be studied year round. Discover the different themes and topics available for school trips :
- Fairytales: Château du Rivau “Fairies and elves” workshop (suggested for Key Stage 1 and younger) In the setting of a castle fit for princes and princesses, and gardens inspired by fairytales and legends, school groups will discover different fairytales and mythical beings while having fun. Pupils can dress up in knight or princess costumes and listen to a story-teller, or even discover the ancient sport of fencing.
- Life in the Middle Ages: Everyday life in a castle at the time of the Beauvau family (suggested for Key Stage 2) These castle tours take school visits into the heart of Château du Rivau. Wearing knight or princess costume, pupils will discover the everyday life of the Middle Ages, including how children of noble birth were educated. Pupils will learn calligraphy and sword fighting (with foam swords!)
- Nature and the environment: Gardens and the senses (suggested for Key Stage 1 and younger) In Château du Rivau’s fairytale gardens, which are accredited as “Jardins Remarquables” (“Remarkable gardens,”) school groups will learn how to respect and to understand nature better. This will be followed by a creative workshop. Learn more about our Our school trips, contact us.
Castle tours for school groups of all ages
Thanks to learning booklets given by Château le Rivau, teachers will be able to prepare their school visits and castle tours in advance. We provide teachers with information on the history of the château, as well as teaching booklets about fairytales and the different plants in the gardens.
