Knight’s Tournament

Come and witness the memorable horse jousting tournament where the Lord of the Rivau and the Lord of Brézé will fight one another.
The Touraine region will thus be up against her neighbour the Anjou region during a tournament that will revive the famous battle organized by the fair King René.

In 1446, the fair King René organized a gentlemen’s tournament in honor of Jeanne de Laval. The greatest lords of the kingdom took part in this horse joust. The Lord of the Rivau was up against the Lord of Brézé during this celebrated tournament. A beautiful medieval book which is kept at the Saint Petersburg library has passed down to us the splendour of its rites.
On July 15th 2011 an exceptional event will take place at the Château du Rivau to celebrate the opening of its Royal Stables:

A tournament that will oppose the Lord of le Rivau to the Lord of Brezé just like it happened in the 15th century!
Touraine or Anjou: who will be your favourite fighter? Come and support the colours of your team!
Come and cheer on your favourite contestant during the 4 jousts that will take place at 11am, 2pm, 3:15pm and 4:30pm. The prize-giving ceremony will begin at 5:30pm. Start booking your seats today!
