Ecuries Royales

According to Pascal Liévaux in his remarkable work on French castles’stables (published by Editions du Patrimoine, 2005), “the Rivau’s royal stables perfectly exemplify the historical evolution of equestrian architecture”.

Meant to represent a jewel case for the castle, the stables were the chief ornament at the entrance of the estate. A similar building to that of the current stables should have been built, but never actually existed.
